About Me
Updated: August 31, 2016
Pioneer Primitives is my home based business and I am the designer, webmaster, shipping department, customer service department, product creator, and dyer. I also have a wonderful husband and 5 beautiful children; as well as 18 piano students. I have recently started teaching elementary school again, therefore, I have scaled back my website somewhat. All punch needle patterns are now only available as epatterns, I will no longer be making kits or drawing patterns for rug hooking, and my hand dyed wool is only available on a wholesale basis. We are going to continue selling gripper frames and will continue to supply gripper strips to those who would like to try their hand at making their own frame.
I have been teaching beginning rug hooking and punch needle locally for several years, I have even appeared on a local news magazine show, Studio 5, where I demonstrated punch needle embroidery. I also supply my own hand dyed wool to local quilt and fiber stores.
In 2007, I was reading on the online rug hooking groups about how members were going to hook-ins and rug camps, and I wanted to go! But they were all too far for me to travel and be away from my young family for so long. So I decided to host a hook-in myself just so I could go to one; it was a great success and turned into an annual event. I am very excited because it has even evolved into a full fledged guild of rug hookers in Utah called the Utah Rug and Fiber Guild. We have hosted some great national teachers such as Ali Strebel, Maggie Bonanomi, Sharon Smith, and Diane Stoffel.
Welcome to my website and please don't hesitate to email me with special requests or questions! I look forward to serving you.
